Finished shortly after lockdown in March this year, this is the first of a series of flying, floating figures on paper mounted on canvas that I envision being joined end to end along the perimeter of a room. Inspired by the dimensions of the Bayeux Tapestry, the paintings are 20 inches tall and varying widths. I am well along on the second piece and am painting them to have the option of being hung in any order and in any number to fit any interior space.
My approach is the usual, not using any preliminary sketches and letting the painting process dictate the outcome. So, in other words, they are always a surprise and one leads to the next.
